Police said it happened around 1 a.m. Friday at the intersection of North Washington and East Jackson Streets in Wilkes-Barre.
According to police, James McCann, 18, of New Jersey, a King's College student, was walking with a friend along Jackson Street when he was attacked and stabbed from behind by a man neither he nor his friend claimed to know. McCann was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries,
Police are looking for a white car that fled the scene.
King's College also put out an alert for students. They described two suspects and the vehicle as a late 90's white Chevy Cavalier.
There have been no arrests yet in Wilkes-Barre.
