There seem to be more new businesses than ever in Wilkes-Barre Township near Blackman Street. Several new storefronts now fill plazas that used to sit empty.

"It's great. I mean it takes up space, a ton of empty space," said Benjamin Branham of Plains Township.

"It's nice to see it. I mean what was Acme here before and it was just decrepit so it's nice to see new businesses coming in," agreed Kelly Chesnet of Benton.

Shoppers said what they like best about the new businesses is that there is less traffic near Blackman Street compared to the Wyoming Valley Mall and Arena Hub in Wilkes-Barre Township.

"I avoid that as much as possible," said Barb Morrow of Ashley.

"Traffic is half as bad over here as it is over there," said Chesnet.

There is still some commercial space available in that part of Wilkes-Barre Township but so far there are no more commercial businesses announced for that area.
