Man Wearing Clown Mask Flees Police
A man is now behind bars in Luzerne County charged with nearly hitting a firefighter with his car and fleeing from police. When police caught him, he was wearing a clown mask.

The incident happened around 2 a.m. Friday in Plains Township.

Investigators charged 24-year-old Jordan Caraballo of Mountain Top with DUI, fleeing from police, running a red light and careless and reckless driving after a bizarre incident Friday night at the Woodlands Inn and Resort near Wilkes-Barre.

According to Plains Township police, emergency crews were called to the Woodlands around 2 a.m. Friday after a security guard was hit by a vehicle.

As ambulance workers were tending to the man, police said Caraballo began honking his horn, drove around a parked fire truck and nearly hit firefighter Ed Neishell.

"In the job that we have, it happens several times. People just aren't courteous. People just don't pay attention to what's going on around them," said Captain Ed Neishell with the Plains TownshipFire Fepartment.

Police tried to pull Caraballo over at an intersection. As an officer tried to approach him, police said Caraballo ran a red light, took off down Route 315, leading police on a high-speed chase. When officers finally caught up to him down the road, police said Caraballo was wearing a clown mask.

Police pulled Caraballo over on Kidder Street in Wilkes-Barre. According to arrest papers, Caraballo asked officers, "Why are you pulling me over?"

Ed Neishell is just glad Caraballo's crazy ride ended with no one seriously hurt.

"People who, if they go out and drink and drive, they deserve to be punished," said Neishell.

Instead of wearing his clown mask for Halloween, Jordan Caraballo is wearing a prison jumpsuit. He is locked up in the Luzerne County jail.
