Two men were charged Monday with the beating death of another man. It comes more than a month after Donnie Skiff of Plymouth was reported missing.
Michael Simonson and Elvis Riccardi, both of Wilkes-Barre, are charged with homicide for Skiff's death.
The musician's body was discovered last week in a wooded area of Jenkins Township. The man from Plymouth man disappeared after a fishing trip in Shickshinny in late April.
Now, investigators said they know why. They said Skiff met Riccardi and Simonson at a bar in the Shickshinny area. Sometime later, they got into a fight.
That's when, according to police, they kidnapped Skiff, drove him around, stole money using his ATM card and beat him to death.
"They took turns driving driving the truck, taking him to the ATM machine in order to get his pass code, was to use the machine and to take money from the machine. All told, I believe they got around $300," said Luzerne County District Attorney Jackie Musto Carroll.
Investigators said after beating Skiff, Riccardi and Simonson torched his truck and then dumped the body in Jenkins Township.
Both are locked up and due back in court later this month.
