Worry Over Luzerne County Election Turnout
Election day is just a week away and in Luzerne County, there are some very high-profile races.

Three candidates are vying for two open judicial seats and two current judges are hoping to be retained for the next ten years.

"Those are the races that are generating a lot of interest. Because of the corruption scandal in Luzerne County there's a watchful eye now on the judiciary," said Leonard Piazza, Director of Elections in Luzerne County.

With the recent corruption controversy in Luzerne County, Piazza is worried. "A lot of people feel as though they're powerless against the system and there's not much they can do about it, but really there is," said Piazza.

He added he hopes he is wrong and voters, instead, are driven to the polls to change things.

"The people really are in charge of things in the country, in the local municipality, so do get out and vote."

Election day is Tueday November 3. The polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m.
