Support Staff Strike Changes School Schedule
Workers have sent notice to a school district in Luzerne County that they plan to strike. Support staff at Crestwood said they will walk out on Monday.

Cafeteria workers, secretaries and janitorial workers rallied outside the school in Mountain Top last month. They have been without a new contract for nearly eight years.

In April, the Crestwood school board voted against a fact finder's report calling for raises for the support staff.

The superintendent said schools in the district in Luzerne County will remain open.

He added the schools will operate on a revised schedule.

Until further notice, secondary students will be released every day at noon. Elementary students will have an early dismissal at 1 p.m. With the support staff on strike, there will be no breakfast or lunch served.
