In Luzerne County, there are now 19 people charged in the on-going corruption scandal. Almost all of them are public officials and almost all charged with taking something they should not have. As for the people providing those things, those bribes, most have not been named or charged.

Only one person faces charges; a Harveys Lake businessman accused of carpeting someone's home in exchange for a school contract.

"They're just as much responsible and they get away with it so why should they continue to do it? And people are sick of being corrupted," said Pam Ziegler of Edwardsville.

"They should be brought into the light of the situation, I mean after all, they're bribing somebody, et cetera. I want to know who it is, why should they be left out of the loop?" asked Rick Walling of Dorrance Township.

"They're just as guilty as the other guy is for taking it, that's the way I look at it," added Richard Hamrick of West Pittston.

A spokeswoman with the U.S. Attorney's Office said federal agents have no comment on why the people providing the bribes have not been charged. Newswatch 16 has only been told the corruption scandal is an ongoing investigation.

That answer is not good enough for some people in Luzerne County.

"You've got people who work hard and then there are people who take this, take this, take this and people are losing their homes and can barely pay their bills and people are living high off the hog so to speak just because of corruption and taking whatever they think they're entitled to and abusing their positions," said Ziegler.
