Exchange Program Coordinator Deals with Feds
A woman accused of letting foreign exchange students live in filthy conditions has agreed to plead guilty to a federal charge of mail fraud.

Edna Burgette of Scranton surrendered to authorities over the summer.

According to court documents, Burgette took money for placing foreign exchange students with host families in Lackawanna County even though she knew those families could not support the students. Prosecutors say Burgette also filed false reports with the Aspect Foundation, the organization that oversaw the exchange program.

Burgette faces a maximum punishment of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
