A business in Columbia County that has been around for decades is gone after a late-night fire.
Flames engulfed Blass Brothers Garage in Catawissa. The family-owned business has been in the community since 1972.
Flames from the fire started at the business just after 11 p.m. Wednesday. The fire chief on scene said water had to be trucked in from the nearby Susquehanna River to help fight the flames. The chief also said there were two vehicles in the garage at the time.
"Now a lot of people are going to have to go to Bloomsburg instead of having the locals, because the locals are what provide the service," said Kristina Hagan of Catawissa.
No one was hurt in the fire but emergency officials said phone service will be interrupted for anyone with a 356 exchange. Residents should use a cell phone or report to the fire station if they have an emergency.
A state police fire marshal will be at the scene Thursday morning to figure out a cause.
