From holiday returns to bagging bargains, people hit stores to search out sweet deals on the day after Christmas. As for the atmosphere at the Viewmont Mall in Lackawanna County, Larissa Patuk of Jessup described it as "very busy."
Autumn Booths of Waymart said there was "lots of hustle and bustle. Many people."
Maureen Cook works at JC Penney and said, "Lines are everywhere. Everywhere. Everywhere. Nonstop as you can see."
In addition to the lines, the registers inside JC Penney just seemed to keep printing out receipt after receipt, from people either buying or exchanging those holiday items that just didn't fit right.
"Everybody's trying to get cash back but you do what you can do," Cook said.
With sales signs everywhere, people had plenty of options. The hot spot at many stores was the section that housed holiday decorations.
Debra Valunas of Laceyville said she's after "Christmas ornaments. At 75 or 50 percent off."
"We got a rotating tree stand for next year and now we're just thinking about gifts for next year," said Tom Garubba of Moscow.
Before shoppers could even begin to get into the Viewmont Mall they had to have their cars packed with patience. Route 6 in Lackawanna County was jammed. The commute turned into a crawl for much of the afternoon.
"The parking and getting into the mall was chaotic," said Valunas.
It's not yet known if that after Christmas craziness at stores will equal big business for retailers. Economists said we won't know how well merchants did until next month when they release their holiday numbers.
