Three fires caused lots of damage Saturday night. Since then, one has been ruled an accident but the other two are still under investigation. Fire investigators said they are leaning toward saying at least one of those fires was intentionally set.
Flames heavily damaged one Williamsport double-block home and just blocks away, another fire destroyed a garage.
Fire investigators were back Monday at the home on Park Place in Williamsport, the scene of a Saturday night inferno that frightened many who live in the neighborhood.
"All of a sudden I seen blue sparks arcing. I opened the door to look out, I seen the flames and it was coming over on our deck," said one neighbor who didn't want to be identified, fearing if someone was responsible for causing the fires they might retaliate.
When the fire started, she said she saw four people leaving the scene in a hurry.
"They had hoodies on, came running between the houses and came running that way hollering fire," the neighbor added.
According to investigators, the fire started on the back porch of a property on Park Place in the city. Now investigators and police officials are trying to find out if this fire is linked to another fire around the same time Halloween night.
"I know my kids were terrified, especially after seeing another one hour before just down the street too," said Jennifer Scott of a garage fire on Third Avenue.
Firefighters responded there roughly an hour before the home on Park Place went up in flames.
Fire officials are looking for a cause there too but said no one was hurt in either fire.
Investigators said one side of the double-block home was vacant and the tenant on the other side was not staying there at the time.
For Jennifer Scott and her children the fires hit too close to home.
"They're scared and they shouldn't have to be scared to worry about their house burning down while they're sleeping," Scott added.
Investigators said a third fire on Cherry Street was accidental. They are still looking into the possibilty the other fires were intentionally set.
