A business hit by a firebug is bouncing back.

Many customers of Paul's Garage in Wayne County remember it as a business near Waymart that did a lot more than just fix cars. It was a place where customers felt comfortable just popping in to say hello.

The car repair shop is making a comeback after an arson leveled it months ago.

The owners of Paul's Garage said not being able to do business for the past five months has felt like five years.

While they are thrilled to be bouncing back from a terrible fire, they know it wouldn't have been possible without so much support from so many in Wayne County.

For more than three decades, Paul's Garage along Canaan Road has been the place many in the Waymart area went for car repairs or, as the owner put it, just to shoot the breeze.

That was until February 10 when someone, who is still on the loose, set it on fire. The automotive repair shop was eventually leveled.

Now it has new life. Owner John Krajkovich held back tears as he described the comeback of Paul's Garage, which was first started by his dad.

"When you live in a small town you never realize how good people can be. It definitely was not possible without all of the help that we had," Krajkovich said.

To show their gratitude workers at Paul's Garage are gearing up for an open house this Saturday so their loyal customers and their friends can see the finished product after five months of work.

"It was a great place before. We had a really nice waiting room but now I have this wonderful office. I can't wait to break in," said employee Mary Bosshard.

Something the new garage has is high-tech equipment and an additional 2,000 square feet so workers can service bigger vehicles like buses and SUVs.

Vic Falvo is excited to get his SUV back in the garage for a tune up and to see the friends he's made there over the past eight years.

"It was not like a customer and a proprietor. It was a family sort of thing," Falvo said.

A family thing that returns Monday at 8 a.m. when it's back to business as usual.

"It's been a long long wait but it's very exciting now," Krajkovich added.
