A spokesperson said phones have been ringing off the hook with complaints about the scam. They said an automated message says customers' accounts have been breached and asks for the account number. Even the bank has received the automated message.
Officials with the bank believe customers in the Honesdale area are being targeted. They add a bank would never ask for personal banking information over the phone. They urge anyone who gets a call like that to simply hang up the phone without giving any information.
