A group in central Pennsylvania is making sure veterans are not forgotten during the holidays.
The project is called Wreaths for Warriors. A Christmas tree farmer is working to make those wreaths for local veterans.
Workers at Kohl's Stony Hill Tree Farm near Washingtonville want to make sure veterans are not forgotten this holiday season. They're making special wreaths in honor of the veterans.
"I just really believe in it and think it's a great honor to work on them," said Ruth Wollett of Kohl's Stony Hill Tree Farm.
For the past four years Stan Kohl and his employees have churned out thousands of the decoration for the wreaths for warriors project. All will be placed on individual veteran graves the first weekend in December in Snyder, Union and Northumberland counties.
"Just to kind of honor the people that fought for our freedoms they put their lives on the line to give us what we take for granted. It's nice to be able to do a little bit in return," said Stan Kohl.
Each wreath is made from blue spruce and will have a ribbon and a flag on it.
This year Kohl plans to pay for about 50 of the wreaths out of his own pocket. So far about 250 have been made and workers around said they expect to make about 1,600.
It's all possible thanks to local donations and volunteers.
"I want them to get involved and come out and help. To help place them at the cemetery. We are always looking for more help," Kohl added.
