Police in Snyder County said Tuesday they believe they know the identity of the man they said kidnapped two women from a mall parking lot.

Investigators said Charles Gordner held the women up at knife point in the parking lot of the Susquehanna Valley Mall Monday. A warrant for his arrest has been issued.

Tina Yetter and Amber Wright said they are shocked to find out two women were kidnapped from the mall Monday around 5 p.m. They were in the same place at the same time.

"That could have been us that it happened to," said Wright.

Investigators said the mother and daughter were walking to their car in the parking lot of the Susquehanna Valley Mall in Hummels Wharf. According to authorities, Gordner followed them to their vehicle, hopped in the back seat and threatened the women with a knife. Gordner then forced the victims to withdraw money from an ATM machine.

"I can't believe it. I've heard of this stuff happening in other places but this is such a small town type of place. It kind of floors me," said Yetter

Just last week a man was shot and killed just a few miles down the road from where this incident took place. Wright said after hearing the news she will now start taking extra precautions.

"Maybe travel with more people and be cautious when you get out of the car and keep your doors locked," added Wright.

"It's like turning into a little city here. It doesn't feel as safe as it use to," Jim Fry.

Police said Gordner forced the women to drive him to Route 11 in Northumberland, where he jumped out of the vehicle and took off.

Bill Coiley works at Suncom Industries, located in the area where police say Gordner escaped.

"You don't think anything is ever going to happen to you locally or ever. Everybody feels they are immune but times are tough and things happen and there is nothing you can do about it you have to roll with the flow," said Bill Coiley.

Police said Gordner has a long list of prior arrests, which include kidnapping and robbery.
