A man who was supposed to go on trial for setting fire to a state representative's office entered a no contest plea instead.

The Northumberland County district attorney said Kevin Mazur pleaded no contest to arson. That means he isn't admitting guilt but he is not disputing the charge.

Mazur was charged with setting four fires that damaged State Representative Robert Belfanti's Mount Carmel office in March, 2008.

Mazur said he did not target Belfanti but he acted out of anger over a custody battle in western Pennsylvania.

A judge immediately sentenced him to six to 12 years in prison and ordered him to pay $100,000 in restitution.

Mazur was taken to a state prison.

Representative Belfanti moved his office to a different location in Mount Carmel after the fire.
