There was another fire at a pool and spa company in Northumberland County Monday and careless smoking is again likely to blame.

The company's owner is fed up with whoever might be jeopardizing his business.

Wade Spicer has been there before. At his pool and spa plant near Northumberland borough Tuesday Spicer looked over fire damage he thinks was caused by a careless smoker.

"If someone wants to smoke and throw a cigarette in a flammable area it's very hard to prevent, just like on an airplane. They can do it," Spicer said.

He tried to crack-down on smoking at strong industries. It is company policy, no smoking, no lighters, no matches, no cigarettes on the property.

That policy was instituted after last month's major fire caused millions in damage.

Back then investigators and Spicer suspected the flames were started by an employee's tossed cigarette.

This time investigators said it started in the wall but can't pinpoint the exact cause.

Spicer has reason to believe someone wasn't following the rules.

"I think the employee because we've had instances of employees caught in there smelling like smoke. It's hard to catch people, but we've heard rumors," Spicer added.

Amanda Smith spends her lunch break at her vehicle in the parking lot. It's the only place where Spicer has allowed smoking. Employees caught smoking anywhere else face termination.

"Don't throw cigarettes out on the ground anywhere. I got an ashtray that puts them out as soon as you put them in," Smith said.

According to Spicer, the part of the building damaged by the most recent fire is expected to be torn down anyway.

Strong plans to install cameras and smoke detectors as an added deterrent to smokers.
