A new company is now set up to make 3D glasses in Northumberland County and it's expected to bring dozens of jobs.

Soon the plant in Shamokin will be pumping out million ofhigh tech 3-D glasses.

"Three-D is an enormous opportunity world wide and its a business expanding dramatically," said Kirk Lysek, Co-owner 3D Glasses Global

3D Glasses Global has teamed up with D E Associates in Shamokin. D E workers will manufacture the glasses for the New Jersey company. The glasses use what's called circular polarized technology that's good for the big screen and the new home high definition 3D TVs. Creators said the product line is the first of its kind in the United States.

"The glasses themselves are unique in the market. Polarizing film has been rated the best polarizing film in the world. The glasses themselves are the only recyclable and recycled glasses in the world as well," added Lysek.

"We immediately jumped on the opportunity and we wanted to prove ourselves to these individuals that this was the area they should invest in and we are the company they should go with," said George DeLellis co-owner D E Associates.

The goal is to produce 1.5 million of the glasses a month at the Shamokin plant. The glasses will be sold around the world. The owners of D E associates said they will hire about 100 people to make them.

"Bring jobs to Shamokin is the main thing to get people to work. This is the first thing I think employment has been brought to the city I couldn't tell you in how many years," said Shamokin Mayor George Rozinski.

Production is expected to start this week.
