An 200,000 pound over-size load is still sitting in downtown Danville. It got stuck there Monday.
The truck is carrying part of a windmill and it caused quite a traffic nightmare when it got stuck on Route 54 near the bridge that connects Danville with Riverside.
It's still in Danville parked on Front Street. The Danville police chief wants to make sure something like this never happens again.
"I heard the bridge was open so I thought that everything was taken care of. So I went to take my kids to the library and couldn't find my way to the library," said Tiffany Gunnerson of Riverside.
Stanley Crone was stuck in traffic on Monday because of the stuck truck. "When I went to work I had to go up to Catawissa and made me late for work but I called them and told them and they got over it," Crone said.
The problem is the back axel broke Monday afternoon as the load was backing up onto Front Street.
The truck can't move until a new part is delivered from the midwest.
Danville Police Chief Eric Gill said far too many large loads drive through the borough, forcing the chief to use five of his officers to guide these loads for at least an hour.
Gill is asking PennDOT to stop this because time is money.
"They are draining all of our local resources and time for something the borough and this community is not benefiting from," Gill said.
PennDOT officials said they are working with the borough to limit the size of loads going through Danville. They also said they don't know when the stuck oversized load will be able to move again.
