New York Ynkees fans are all smiles Thursday. The Yanks beat the Philadelphia Phillies Wednesday night, winning their 27th World Series championship.

You didn't have to look far to find Yankees fans at Schuylkill Valley Sports in the Stroud Mall.

"It feels great! Nine years coming, 27 wins, it is a great feeling," said Soroya Martin of East Stroudsburg.

Store manager ink Lim said the fans were already lining up before the store even opened to get their championship gear.

"When someone wins a championship locally there were people waiting at the gate. The phone has been ringing off the hook wanting to know when the stuff is coming in," said Lim.

With two local teams vying for the championship spot, win or lose, Lim said, it was win win for his store.

"It's a shame someone has to win but somebody does and now we will reap the benefits of a world champion," Lim added.

"I am going to be wearing it all of the time, rubbing it is people's faces," said Effort native Samatha Rothwell.

Not all of the Yankees fans picking up their blue and white are New York transplants. Some were born and raised right here in Monroe County.

"I am from the Poconos but my entire family are Yankees fans and I just love them. They are awesome," Rothwell added.

The next stop for most of the New York fans is the championship parade in New York City, that is if they find a babysitter.

"I am relieved it is over and hopefully tomorrow we will go to the parade and we need a babysitter. What are you doing? You want to babysit?" asked Carlos Cordero of Stroudsburg.

The New York Yankees championship parade kicks off Friday at 11 a.m. at Battery Park in New York City.
