It was a tragic Fathers' Day at a home near Reeders. The young man police said was killed by his father was going to be a father himself.

Neighbors of the home on Adams Drive near Reeders are shocked at what happened this weekend.

"Family is to be loved and cared for, not to abuse or hurt, especially when you talk about killing your own flesh and blood," said neighbor Manny Lopez.

Bernard Uckele, 62, was arrested and charged with homicide and eluding police.

Police said he shot his son, 19-year-old Justin Uckele, in the chest. Officers said it started Sunday afternoon, when Justin's sister starting arguing with his pregnant girlfriend in the home.

The elder Uckele got involved and the argument got physical. When Justin got home from work, his father shot him.

A teenage friend of the victim's sister said she used to hang out at the house and while the family did fight sometimes, she said she was shocked to find out about the deadly shooting.

Uckele's girlfriend, 21-year-old Jacqueline Martinez, wrote about the shooting online.

Her MySpace profile said, "I lost my best friend, my boyfriend, the father of my unborn son. I am so lost without you."

William Dominguez's property borders the Uckele's. He said he heard yelling, but no gunshots. Then he saw police chasing Bernard Uckele as he fled the scene.

"I saw them take off. I figured they must be chasing someone through the woods or something. I locked up my house, made sure my dogs and kids were inside," said Dominguez.

Troopers said they have not responded to any domestic calls at that house in the past year.

Uckele is locked up without bail in Monroe County.
