An organization in Monroe County that hundreds depend on for food opened its doors at a new, much larger location.

The people who run the place hope they will now be able to better serve the Stroudsburg area.

Each year, the Follow Me Foundation helps feed nearly 3,300 families in Monroe County.

To better serve those in need, they have temporarily moved into a vacant showroom at Halterman's Auto Ranch in East Stroudsburg.

The 2,100 square foot building was lent by James Halterman two weeks ago. The foundation will be able to stay there until the dealership is able to sell the building.

It's a big difference compared to the 400 square foot space they operated out of before.

"We did eight years in a master bedroom, so this is amazing to us. It's crazy!," said Jeni Himelright of the Follow Me Foundation.

The lack of space forced those in need to stand outside in the cold, waiting for food, but not anymore.

"Now we can have our guests not be outside in the elements. They're inside, keeping warm and getting their food," said Jerry Reynolds of the Follow Me Foundation.

"That's the best thing! You don't have to wait outside with the wind and when it's cold," said Angela Seese of East Stroudsburg.

"It's a larger building and we're in from outside. We have chairs to sit in, which is fantastic," said Ruth Cyrus of Snydersville.

The new location also gives the food bank space to allow its guests to choose what they are putting on their dinner table.

The organization isn't stopping there.

"We will be able to do so much more for the people. We're hoping to do clothing for the people, coats, things like that," Himelright added.

The Follow Me Foundation distributes food every first and third Wednesday of each month.
