A child pornography investigation that dates back to April led to 1,400 counts of child sexual abuse against a man from Monroe County.

Police said thousands of images of child pornography were found on a computer belonging to Jonathon Brownlee, 31, of the Long Pond area of Tobyhanna Township.

Investigators believe he was also sending the images over the Internet.

Police call it one of the of most disturbing child pornography cases they've ever seen.

Officers from Pocono Mountain Regional Police carried out bags of evidence Thursday from the home in the Emerald Lakes development in Pocono Township. It was the same place where a day earlier, they arrested Brownlee on 1,400 counts of possessing child pornography.

Court papers indicate police found more than 6,000 images of child pornography and nearly 30 videos on Brownlee's computers. They also found evidence that he was sending those images to other people.

"Some of the children are under the age of 12. They are graphic photographs of children depicting them in poses, sexual poses. Some of the children are restrained in the photos," said Detective Sergeant Ken Lenning.

Court papers show Brownlee told police in June he had an addiction and tried several times to get help.

"I've known my brother my whole life. I never saw him with any kids or doing anything inappropriate with any kids, but apparently he's been doing something online," said Brownlee's brother, Jeff.

One neighbor said she is relieved that Brownlee is behind bars. "I'm glad he's caught," said Edie DeVito. "Let him be put away, or go to an institution to help him. It's very frightening to me."

Brownlee's bail is set at $50,000. He is in the Monroe County Correctional Facility.

Police in Monroe County said their investigation is continuing and more charges are possible.
