The weekend began tragically Friday in Lycoming County. Two people were killed after a car and mini-van collided.
The deadly crash happened around 11 a.m. on Route 220 in Wolf Township, outside Hughesville. Two are dead and police said one man has severe injuries.
Police said the mini-van and the car were traveling in opposite directions on Route 220 when, for some reason, the mini-van swerved abruptly into the path of the car.
The two vehicles crashed head-on. The driver of the mini-van, a 66-year- old woman, and the passenger in the car, a 75-year-old woman died. The driver of the car, a 73-year-old man, was flown to Geisinger Medical Center with severe injuries. There is no word on his condition and the names of the victims have not been released.
Traffic was tied up for hours on Route 220. The crash scene was cleared around 2 p.m.
