John Walton Jr. of Scranton was already locked up on charges he took a Coccia Ford employee on a wild ride and threatened to kill him. Now he is locked up on more charges that he torched his own van and put the lives of dozens in danger.
It was yet another bizarre day for police in Luzerne County as they carried Walton from court. He was charged with torching his own van outside Coccia Ford in Plains Township and threatening the lives of 35 employees inside the place.
Tuesday Walton was lying in the back of a police car after refusing to stand up for officers and had to be arraigned on reckless driving and endangerment charges inside an ambulance garage.
Police said Walton was angry when a Coccia employee didn't hear a transmission problem in his van during a test drive, so Walton took that worker on a high-speed ride.
The man eventually jumped from the moving van before calling police.
Police said Walton then drove his van to Coccia Ford and torched it.
After he was arraigned on the arson charges Wednesday Walton was locked up in Luzerne County on $75,000 bail.
