Daniel Pinkney and Kevin Fisher are accused of brutally beating Nick and Martha Caputo inside their Hazleton home last year. Thursday defense attorneys and prosecutors made their final pleas to the jury.
Prosecutors said Fisher and Pinkney invaded the Caputo's home and beat the couple just to get some cash.
During this week's trial, Anthony Cangiano and Joseph Bardi told jurors Pinkney and Fisher were the attackers. Bardi and Cangiano pleaded guilty to planning the attempted robbery.
During closing arguments, Pinkney's attorney pointed the finger at Cangiano and Bardi, saying they were the "greedy, ruthless" men inside attacking the Caputos. The defense attorney accused them of cutting a deal with prosecutors to blame Pinkney.
Fisher's attorney said the same, telling the jurors to "keep an open mind. There is no link to Mr. Fisher."
Then, prosecutors had their turn. They showed colored photographs of the bloodied Caputos after the attack as family members sobbed in court.
Pinkney and Fisher are each facing eight counts and could serve up to 60 years behind bars if convicted.
