One day after the director of human resources in Luzerne County handed in his resignation, he was fired.
Doug Richards was asked to leave the courthouse Wednesday. He resigned from his position this week saying he wanted to explore other things.
His role in awarding county contracts has been questioned recently.
"Quite frankly, on a personal note, I am sick of it," said Luzerne County Commissioner Maryanne Petrilla.
Also, federal agents were in the Luzerne County courthouse Wednesday afternoon. They spent about an hour inside the county manager's office and left with boxes of records.
There is no word what they took or why they were at the courthouse.
