A body found in the woods of Luzerne County Thursday afternoon has now been positively identified.

Investigators tell Newswatch 16 they identified the body of Donnie Skiff through dental records. His body was found in a wooded area off Suscon Road in Jenkins Township, about five miles from Dupont.

Troopers said they were in the area as part of an on-going in investigation when they found the body. State police have been searching the area for the past few weeks searching for Skiff, 34, of Plymouth. He disappeared in late April and his burned pick-up truck was later discovered in the Plymouth area.

Authorities in Luzerne County have not yet said how Skiff died or under what circumstances. An autopsy is planned for Friday morning.
