Settlement Reached in Street Dispute
The borough of Clarks Summit will pay a landowner nearly $2 million for closing a street.

A settlement was reached Monday between the borough in Lackawanna County and the developer.

In September a county jury agreed with Peter Amato that when the borough blocked off Grandview Street in 2003 it blocked access to his development.

The jury awarded him over $2 million. The settlement is just under that.

The solicitor in Clarks Summit expects to pay for the settlement by taking out a loan.
