A woman's death in Lackawanna County is now being called a homicide.
The body of Doris Besancon, 52, of Old Forge was found in her home in the 1200 block of Bennett Street Thursday.
State police are handling the investigation. They will not say how Besancon died but they are calling the death a homicide.
A state police spokesperson said something discovered in Friday's autopsy made authorities return to the house on Bennett Street.
State police investigators collected evidence including a computer and a vacuum cleaner from the home.
Neighbors were surprised to learn that her death has been ruled a homicide.
"My question is who did it?," said Nick Russell. "I'm really anxious to see what actually happened here."
Old Forge Police responded to the home around six o'clock Thursday after a report of an unresponsive woman.
Neighbor Cara Reed is a nurse. She heard the call on the scanner and ran to see if she could help.
"She was on the floor what appeared to be the computer room," said Cara Reed. "She was there long enough that she was not in a condition to be resuscitated."
Reed says she did not see any obvious wounds on Besancon's body. She says the woman's husband is the one who called 9-1-1.
"He was inconsolable an expected reaction from a husband," said Reed.
Reed says Besancon was on disability and couldn't work she described Besancon as a nice person who would help anyone.
"She was a kind person who kept to herself but then again was friendly as well," said Reed. "I can't imagine her ever having an enemy."
So far no arrests have been made.
