Andrew Wally, 26, of Dunmore, a science teacher at Dunmore High School, was arrested Monday night, accused of having sex with one of his students.
Police said another teacher, Wally's friend, is now also being investigated for having an inappropriate relationship with a different female student.
At Dunmore High School, the news of a science teacher accused of having sex with one of his female students spread quickly.
The news didn't sit well with parents and students.
"I'm really shocked definitely. I never thought it would happen here," said student Correy Kenney.
"I'm upset. It's like a black eye for the school and I have nothing but good things to say about Dunmore," said parent Sara Morris.
"I am shocked. It's weird. I didn't think that would actually happen. That's like Hollywood. It's just kind of weird," said student Ian Boni.
Wally is accused of having a sexual relationship with one his science students.
Police said Wally, who was a science teacher and a golf coach, started the relationship with the 17-year-old girl last summer.
He tutored her in science and also helped her with golf.
Police said Wally then took her to his home in Dunmore, gave her alcohol, and had sex with her on several different occasions.
Police said he also gave the teen a promise ring, and the relationship lasted several months.
That all ended when a parent of a Dunmore High School student heard about the relationship and called police.
When they confronted Wally, he admitted to having sex with the teen at least 10 different times and also gave her alcohol.
School administrators did not return Newswatch 16's phone calls, but an attorney for the Dunmore School District said, "We are cooperating with Dunmore police and the district attorney. We are doing our own investigation. Both teachers have been suspended."
Wally is charged with 10 counts of corruption of minors and giving alcohol to a minor.
He was released on bail.
As far as the other teacher, his name is not yet being released. He is being investigated for having an inappropriate relationship through cell phone text messages with a female student.
Both teachers, who police said are friends, are suspended until their hearings with school administration.
