Direct bus service started Tuesday morning from downtown Scranton to Mount Airy Casino Resort in the Poconos.
The first busses rolled out from a bus stop along Wyoming Avenue.
COLTS, the County of Lackawanna Transit System, will offer three bus trips to and from Mount Airy Casino Resort Monday through Friday and the first to hop aboard Tuesday were excited about it.
"Oh, I love it. I've been waiting, you know, I don't drive so I've been waiting," said Marge James of Scranton.
The trip costs $5 each way unless you're a senior citizen, then it's free.
"I like it. It's cheap, it's inexpensive, especially for seniors," said Pat Merkery of Dunmore.
"It's wonderful. It's free for the seniors and it's a wonderful ride," said Ed Kuchinski of Taylor.
The buses will go to Mount Airy but riders can also connect to other Pocono locations once they get there.
"At that point our passengers can get out and go into Mount Airy Casino or jump on one of Monroe County's busses and go any where those busses will take them," explained Bob Fiume of COLTS.
COLTS launched service to Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs near Wilkes-Barre in 2007.
Now the busses are going to Mount Airy too, just in time for table gambling to start at both casinos in our area next week.
"It's a trial basis to see how it works, we're trying to interconnect with other locations and see how it goes," Fiume added.
Those catching the ride like the easy access to gamble around here.
"I've been down to Atlantic City three times this year it's even better than Atlantic City," Kuchinski said.
Colts busses will leave for Mount Airy from Wyoming Avenue at 9:50 a.m. 11:35 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
