A former music teacher pleaded guilty Thursday to child sex charges in Columbia County.

Brian Fish, 46, of Berwick admitted to inappropriately touching a 14-year-old boy at his home.

Fish is a former Berwick Area music teacher.

Police said in September Fish inappropriately touched a 14-year-boy on the front porch of Fish's house in Berwick. In court Fish pleaded guilty to one count of indecent assault.

Columbia County District Attorney Gary Norton said he will seek the stiffest penalty.

"It's an unfortunate indecent, a despicable indecent. A 14-year-old man was the victim but we felt this was the charge most appropriate which is indecent assault which was the indecent touching of the victim," Norton said.

Fish told the judge the boy looked troubled, looked like he was up to no good and he just wanted to help him.

Fish's defense attorney says he's a good man.

"Mr. Fish is an outstanding individual. He has been very good with all his students that he has taught over the years," said defense attorney Frank Kepner.

Fish will be sentenced at a later date. He is free on bail.
