Lock Haven University is deciding if students who came clean about a trip to California should be disciplined.

Several members of student government were supposed to be there for a conference but instead, went sightseeing.

That trip cost nearly $10,000, money fellow students believe was theirs, and used for things like a tour of Hollywood Studios and a trip to the beach.

Now an investigation is underway to find out where the money came from and who should be held responsible.

"The executive board in mid-October went to California and did not attend a conference," said sophomore Michael Mehrazer, one of the students looking into where the money for the trip originated.

Instead of attending the conference. Mehrazer said, the students went on tours of Hollywood, UCLA and even enjoyed time at the beach.

"We want to investigate who is responsible, not just accept their apology," Mehrazer added.

"I think it's ridiculous, a lot of kids come here and pay out of their own pocket," said senior Sean Walker. He is not alone in wanting to see something done to make some, if not all, of the students who went to California held accountable.

Another senior, Donna Archangel, said she's really ticked off by the whole ordeal, saying the student cooperative council is stingy with the money they give to her math club.

"For them to take a $10,000 trip with my tuition money but they can't support my club makes me furious," Archangel said.

Even though the students who went to California said they fully intended to go to the conference, students on campus said that's not the case. They'd like to see members of their student government ousted from their positions.

"I'd like to see them resign, someone who has more my interest in mind take their positions," Archangel added.

A university spokesperson said it will wait until an investigation is complete before deciding what, if any, punishment should be given to those students.

Calls made to the president of that executive board were no returbed.

Because of the situation one of the students on the board has already resigned.
