For the third straight day there has been some rain at the fair. Conditions are improving, albeit a bit windy for Monday evening.
Both visitors and vendors are taking the less than perfect weather in stride.
"We just enjoy it, regardless of what the weather is," said Carol Kashuba of Mountain Top.
A little rain, some wind, not the best fair weather, but no reason to stay home either.
"Today we had to pull our sides down because the wind was gusting and blowing in but if it's doing that we just close it up. We remain open but just close the sides down," said Deb Rabb of Muncy. "We always know every year we're going to have at least one day of rain. So the days that it's not rainy business picks up because they know rain is approaching."
Her barbecue stand has seen much worse at the fairgrounds, including flooding in years past. "As long as the weatherman doesn't predict a total day of rain then we're okay," Rabb added. "The people still come out. It's just not as busy and I think you're more to an advantage when its is a rainy day if you want to see things."
So far this year Dave Norman's gyro stand has seen a decrease in business due to the rain. He said the weather creates a guessing game for visitors.
"We had a nice Friday. People, I guess, coming because of the rain forecast for Saturday. Then they came early Saturday thinking it was going to rain Saturday night. People make adjustments, like we have to," Norman said. "Just kin of roll with the punches. That's all you can do."
As long as he can remember, Paul Timko and his wife have been putting up with the finicky fall weather. "Almost every time we come it rains, right?" Timko said.
The best bet may be to arrive prepared for just about any type of weather.
"We've been coming to the fair for 35 years. Pay for the shows. Sometimes you wear a spring coat. Sometimes a winter coat with gloves. So you just sort of have to listen to Tom Clark and go from there," Kashuba added.
Attendance numbers are down so far this year.
