A national Latino civil rights group is in the same community where an illegal immigrant was beaten to death.

Tuesday afternoon there was a gathering of local Latino advocates and members of the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund at the Vine Street Park in Shenandoah, just yards away from where 25-year-old Luiz Ramirez was beaten to death.

A candlelight vigil is also being held to celebrate Ramirez's life.

The speakers at Tuesday's news conference said they are upset about the murder, and are asking local authorities to remain diligent in their investigation.  Last week, three teenage boys were arrested in connection with the deadly beating.

Ramirez's family was also at the conference.  Crystal Dillman engaged to Luis Ramirez and said their children are still trying to understand what happened to their father.

"What can I say to them?  They are three, two and going to be one.  What can you say to children that young? How can I explain to them that their father is never coming back?" Dillman said through her tears.

During the news conference, different people spoke about different solutions and suggestions on how to make Shenandoah a place with racial harmony.

One speaker suggested all citizens in the area should receive diversity training.
