HOW TO GET WNEP2 ON YOUR SATELLITE RECEIVER

Do you have DirecTV or the Dish Network? You can add WNEP2 to your program guide for no monthly fee.

It's really not that difficult, depending on the model of receiver you have," said WNEP chief engineer Mike Morkavage. "Basically what you're doing is adding off-air channels to your guide without paying an additional fee."

First, if you are a DirecTV customer with a newer-model receiver you may need to get an additional off-air tuner.

"It's basically an ASTC tuner that attaches to your DirecTV box, costing about $50, if you don't currently have an "off-air in" connector on your DirecTV receiver.

Dish Network's primarily are all built in," Morkavage explained.

For both DirecTV and Dish Network customers here's what you'll need next.

"An additional antenna either, depending on your location, an indoor amplified antenna or an outdoor antenna," said Morkavage.

Attach that antenna to your satellite receiver or off-air tuner and you are ready to add WNEP-2 to your program guide.

Here's how it works on DirecTV:

Go to parental, fav's and setup. Select that.

Then click on system setup.

From there click on satellite and antenna and select antenna set up. Then select initial set up.

Next you will get to a point where you need to put in your zip code. You enter that and the search to re-program your receiver to get WNEP-2 is on.

Once that's done, select complete and then select done. And that's it.

After that your program guide will show that you now have WNEP off satellite.

For Dish Network you'll need to verify that you have an "over-the-air" module in your receiver. It's probably on the left side of the back of the receiver. Attach an off-air antenna to the antenna "in" connector and do a menu ,sys setup, local channels, scan locals. Then you can view them after you've completed. Also, you'll need to have subscribed to "locals" in your package to receive these additionally. Following is a link to the instructions but you can search by going back into Dish's website and following this link back. Of course, contacting Dish directly would be the best option.
