If you watch WNEP and our sister station WNEP2 with an antenna with mixed results, a big change is coming! On December 5th, 2009, WNEP is launching its most powerful over-the-air signal ever.
How does that affect you?
WNEP’s signal will be much stronger, with better quality, while reaching more viewers than ever before. If you were not able to get WNEP and WNEP2 over the air, you should now be able to get the signal with a simple indoor antenna.
What will you need to do?
You can continue to watch WNEP and WNEP2 with the same indoor or rooftop antenna you have been using, or, you can purchase an indoor antenna, preferably one with a built-in amplifier, to begin watching WNEP and WNEP2 for the first time. You do not have to wait until December 5 to install the new antenna, but you may not be able to get the clearest signal until that time.
What if you currently get WNEP and WNEP2 over the air?
Because WNEP-TV is launching a more powerful transmitter December 5th, 2009 and moving from digital channel 49 to digital channel 50, you will need to rescan, to ensure that you receive WNEP and our sister station WNEP2’s new stronger signal.
What is “rescanning”?After hooking up a converter box to your TV set, or installing a new digital TV set, you will need to scan (also known as "auto-tune") for new channels to make sure you receive WNEP and our sister station WNEP2. While some boxes do this automatically, you may need to select scan manually.

You may want to consider rescanning on a periodic basis to ensure that you get all of the digital programming available.
