MOUNT POCONO -- A homicide by vehicle trial started Monday morning in Monroe County without the defendant present.
Kirk Randler's attorney said he does not know where his client is.
Police say Randler was speeding on Route 611 in Mount Pocono in 2014 when he tried to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone. He crashed and his passenger, Katrina Strausser, was killed.
Since jurors and witnesses did arrive for the trial, opening statements began.
Prosecutors said they are seeking a warrant for Randler's arrest.
