EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. -- Part of the former International Boiler Works was a ball of fire and smoke Sunday night.

Fire officials called the blaze suspicious and said it started near the entrance of one building in East Stroudsburg.

"It was huge, I mean you could see it down to CVS, a lot of people came here to see it, it was pretty bad," said Jennifer Quistgaard, who lives nearby.

Exactly a week before this blaze, flames swept through vacant buildings at the former Penn Hills Resort in Stroud Township. That was also called a suspicious fire.

Investigators have not said if the two are definitely related, but fire officials said it is a possibility.

"I think it's kind of crazy because it's like going around everywhere, started up there by Marshalls Creek and now it's at Boiler Works. I think it's just kind of crazy how that stuff is happening, the fires," said Joe Widmur of East Stroudsburg.

"I think it's kind of crazy because there's homeless people who do live in there and like if they were there the one day, you know what I'm saying. And if they were in there and got burned to death, that's actually kind of like messed up," said Corey Lockwood of East Stroudsburg.

People in East Stroudsburg said International Boiler Works has been vacant for nearly 30 years and people often visit the area.

"People come here with their four-wheelers and everything, I don't know. It's sad," said Quistgaard.

People said they hope police arrest those responsible for the blazes and soon.

"Volunteer firemen have enough to do here without running around for these trivial incidents and you know Penn Resort was last week. That was vacant so I mean fire is very dangerous and we have to waste these resources when it could be used for other things," said Louis Frulio of East Stroudsburg.
