Jon Meyer
Jon Meyer is a weekend anchor and reporter at WNEP-TV. Jon started at Newswatch 16 as a reporter in June, 2003. He is no stranger to Pennsylvania.
Jon came to WNEP from WJAC-TV in Johnstown. There he also served as weekend anchor and reporter. Jon was a key to WJAC's coverage of the September 11, 2001 attack on America. United Airlines Flight 93 crashed only 20 miles from Johnstown in Somerset County. Jon was the first reporter at the crash site. He followed the story extensively for the weeks and months that followed. His accounts of the crash and his experiences covering it appear in several books about September 11th and its aftermath.
Jon grew up just west of the WNEP viewing area in St. Marys, Elk County. He and Newswatch 16's Julie Sidoni are from the same town and went to high school together.
After high school, Jon went to Syracuse University and graduated with degrees in Broadcast Journalism and International Relations.
Jon is a big sports fan, always rooting hard for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Pirates, Penn State football and the Syracuse Orange football and basketball teams.
Jon is also a fan of outdoor activities like hiking, boating, skiing, fishing and hunting.
